Hell Hath No Fury (Book 4)
By: Rachel Aaron

Quick-take: A cliche done well.

Dan's Review

Fresh off their defeat, Bex regroups to try again with a trip... to the Hells.

I have said this many times in my reviews. I am not a fan of the "superhero loses their powers" trope. It just feels like an excuse to exend the series for another episode. They get to spend time feeling mortal and work their way into regaining their powers. Once achieved, the story can resume.

To Rachel Aaron's credit, she did a good job of making the loss of powers feel real. Also, despite "losing" them, Bex is still quite powerful and can hold her own against even the most powerful demons.

Some more lore is explored. In the depths of the Hells, we meet demons we have not met before. Some are as old as the fall of Paradise. We get to learn about what happened and why the king set things up the way he did.

I try to avoid spoilers in my reviews. I am sure you can guess what happens.

Score: 4/5. One of the better visits to a "lost my powers" episodes. Time for the next one. Though an important story arc was closed, the next book is basically required reading.
